Odour Chemistry, Explained Scientifically
Science of Fresh is a scientist-led research publication and product lab studying how household odours form, persist, and respond to different cleaning and neutralising chemistries.
What We Study
Odour Chemistry
How malodours bind to fabrics, surfaces, porous materials, air, and household residues.
Product Mechanisms
Fragrance masking, enzymatic breakdown, chemical neutralisation, adsorption, oxidation, surfactant cleaning, and biocidal action.
Real-World Performance
How products perform when their label claims, SDS information, chemical plausibility, and verified consumer reports are compared.
How We Review Products
Our review process separates manufacturer claims from evidence. We examine Safety Data Sheets, active ingredient classes, surface compatibility, regulatory context, use-case fit, consumer-reported friction points, and cost-in-use. Where hands-on testing is not available, we distinguish clearly between documented specifications, chemical plausibility, and user evidence.
Our Product Development Work
Our research sometimes identifies gaps in the market, particularly where products rely heavily on fragrance masking rather than root-cause odour control. Where Bodhi & Digby Ltd develops formulations intended to address those gaps, that relationship is disclosed clearly when those products appear in Science of Fresh content.
